Apoc-TypeII
The world’s longest duration production rebreather for use in cave diving and/or expedition applications. The rebreather uses two parallel EAC scrubbers.
The Apoc-Type II (m)CCR is the only parallel flow dual scrubber Mechanical Closed Circuit Rebreather, optimised for deep long duration expedition use, with full underwater flood recovery and the lowest available Work Of Breathing (WOB) on the market.
For deeper or longer dives, either with iCCR Monitor or Ironman HUD as a PPO2 monitor, depth limits of 350m and durations of 5 hours 30 minutes under CE conditions, or over 10 hours under warm water diving conditions are approved with appropriate training, user experience, gas bailout options and either surface support or saturation systems.
FEATURES
- Work of breathing simply not noticeable: like walking in the park (1.38J/L at 40m with 75lpm RMV as required for CE certification)
- One-touch Bail out Valve by default as bailout to OC can be triggered by one finger or handsfree
- Dual quick fit EAC scrubber cartridges, the safest scrubber technology on the planet. For further extended duration these can be swapped out under wet conditions in minutes in a cave or underwater habitat.
- Integrated counterlung Water dumps allow full loop recovery even if the scrubbers have flooded
- Passive oxygen addition down to 180m (with optional 19bar A230 1st stage) minimises risks of the diver forgetting to flush the loop
- Rapid turn around between dives with a loop rinse and scrubber replacement taking under 3 minutes! Scrubber and cylinders can be swapped out on a wet zodiac.
- Rugged with low maintenance.
- Clean front and shoulders: protected encased internal back-mounted counterlungs
- Profile above diver of just 220.5mm, similar to a single 10 litre cylinder
- Light: as low as 28kg ready to dive dependent on siderail gas cylinder selection. Option of 2Land 3L 300bar 904L SS carbon wrapped cylinders where minimum profile or carried weight is required.
- Travel and dive plan friendly as unit will accept any cylinder size on siderails from 1L through to 12L
- Supplied with ergonomic backplate built into the frame to reduce the unit's weight and size. making the unit comfortable for both carrying above water but also wearing submerged.
Open Safety rebreathers are unique in delivering full compliance with all applicable safety standards, including Functional Safety standards. Open publication of the safety documentation is a cornerstone: the formal verification, test results, failure analysis, performance measurements and compliance matrices are audited and published – an openness that is truly revolutionary in rebreather safety.
Safety and Contractual Note: Training is essential to use rebreather products safely, in particular this true expedition rated rebreather. To have this product delivered, you will either need to already own and have been trained on an Apoc-TypeII CCR or else be able to demonstrate sufficient competency to Open Safety through previous expedition diving with no safety violations.

Q:
How does the low WOB benefit my diving?
Answer:
As we go deeper, gas density increases linearly, increasing Work of Breathing (WOB) for any given breathing rate (RMV). The increased WOB, in turn, causes CO2 retention, which puts the diver at much greater risk of a CNS oxygen toxicity seizure. By offering the lowest available WOB of any rebreather on the market, diving an Apocalypse CCR enables you to dive with the lowest gas density for any given gas choice.
Q:
Can I dive the Apoc-Type II with only one scrubber fitted?
Answer:
No.
As a true dual scrubber expedition rebreather both EAC scrubbers need to be fitted as the gas path is simultaneous through both scrubbers.
Q:
Can I swap between the Type IV and Type II for my diving?
Answer:
Yes.
Rated for diving to 100m the Type IV suits the greater majority of diving requirements in a lighter and cheaper package. As the majority of components are interchangeable the same muscle memory to dive the Type IV is used for the Type II. You can dive the same configuration with both sets.
